Hello to all G.L.U.G.S. Golfers and Friends,
I am delighted to report that the GLUGS weather god has joined us for the start of 2011 season. We were expecting heavy rain and strong winds when we played at Mendip Golf Club on the 9th, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. It was a fine early spring like day if a little cold when 18 of us tee’d of at 10 o’clock It was nice to see a strong turn out for the February game which shows the high regard we have for the welcome we receive at The Mendip. After all the wet weather we have had the course was in fine condition for the time of year. The fairways were dry and the greens very receptive and the after match meal of roast beef followed by apple crumble was very welcome.
The wining score of the day goes to Andy Sugg the Landlord of the Prince of Orange at Yatton with a score of 36. Andy also won nearest the pin with longest drive going to Adam Dart of Tall Pine Golf Club. Jeff Hargreaves had nearest the pin last month did even better this month by winning the all expenses paid weekend in Paris for two and £500 spending money
Our next game will be at The Bristol Golf Club First tee is at 10.30am on the 9th March. If you haven’t played with us before and you play golf please join us, we play on the second Wednesday of the month, all are welcome.
Best wishes,
Phil,
