Hello to all G.L.U.G.S. Golfers and Friends,
It rained all day night Monday all of Tuesday and when Wednesday arrived the sun god came out just for us to play at Minchinhampton Golf Club on the Avening course. Sun tan lotion factor 15 was called for and happily thickly spread. 17 of us enjoyed the sunshine after a very tasty bacon roll. (Sorry to say some missed this as they arrived a little late).
Minchinhampton has very wide fairways and very little water. Never the less I still managed to found it. Most of the members scored into the thirties and the winning score was 38 points by Richard Gee. (The Alchemist). Keith Perry had the longest drive and Chris Knowlton landed nearest the pin. The weekend in Paris for 2 with £500 spending money was won by James Langford the manager of the Plough. Well-done Chaps.
What a great meal we all had at Minchinhampton Golf Club after the game, Roast Pork followed by treacle tart and coffee. This together with first class hospitality from the Club makes this one of the best venues of the year. Those of you that missed it missed great days golf G L U G S style.
It was good to welcome back Ken Mains after his illness and we will miss Matt Neno who left us to go abroad for a few months.
We are playing at Raglan Parc on Wednesday the 8th September first tee time is 11.00am cost £35. If you would like to join us please let me know. You will be made very welcome.
Please don’t forget John and Vanessa Webb’s Charity Golf Day in aid of their late daughter it will be at Mendip Spring Golf Club on the 6th September 2010. ‘Natalie’s Charities Golf Day.’ If you can support him in any way please let John or me know.
Best Wishes,
Phil,
